Te Wa Custom Underquilt

A few weeks ago I received a special package in the mail that had my custom sized summer underquilt that I had ordered from Te Wa Underquilts.  I ordered a breeze, the lightest in the line up and the only one with sewn through construction.  I had Mike make it the standard 40 inches wide but to cut it short at a crazy 35″ long instead of the standard 52″.  With an extra ounce of down, it’s rated closer to 35 degrees and if I add a full length pad I think I can get it down to freezing, easy!

Now before you say “35 inches!!, what’s that cover, your butt?”  Let me explain.  The height from my shoulders to the back of my knees is exactly 35″ and when hanging it hits a little higher than that, making it a perfect 2/3 underquilt for me.  Also, I sleep curled up on my side and that brings it to a 3/4 underquilt.  It’s the perfect match for the muggy summers and cool shoulder seasons we get here in the South!

The construction is flawless and the down puffs right up after being removed from the included stuff sack.  The purple color also looks amazing against my blue hammock, way better than the pictures show!!  The pictures I have are of my very first time hanging it up and I have since played around with it a ton to find the right way setup that will work best.  I still have some tweaking to go but I’m hoping to have a full review after my first trip coming up soon!
